Snap is introducing paid storage plans for its Memories feature, which allows users to store content they’ve accumulated over the years. According to data shared by the company, Snapchat users have saved over a trillion Memories to date. Following this high usage, Snap has now started offering Memories storage plans for users who exceed the free 5GB limit.
Under the new system, the entry-level plan offers up to 100GB of storage for $1.99 (82 TL) per month. Snapchat+ subscribers who want more capacity can get 250GB of storage for $3.99 (165 TL) per month. The top-tier Platinum plan offers up to 5TB of storage for $15.99 (665 TL) per month.
Snap stated in a statement that the vast majority of Snapchat users will not exceed the current 5GB limit, so most people won’t notice any changes. However, the new storage plans are already being rolled out for users who save thousands of Snaps. Additionally, to ease the transition from unlimited storage to paid options, anyone exceeding the 5GB limit will receive a temporary additional year of storage.
These new storage options are the latest addition to Snap’s paid service portfolio, following the announcement of the Lens+ subscription, which cost $9 (374 TL) per month.
